In the second edition of the Bengal T20 Challenge, 120 players from different age groups were selected in the players’ draft picks on Saturday. The tournament is being organized by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
There will be six teams named after six iconic cities/towns of Bengal that will participate in the event. The teams include senior Bengals, U25 players and U19 probables. Also, there are no new outside players, which gives it a local flavor.
“We have selected local players as we want players from the state to come forward and showcase their talent. We also have the top performing players of the Second Division Tournament District Tournament. Of course we will have a separate tournament for districts, a new tournament which will also be telecasted,” said CAB president Avishek Dalmiya.
“This time we have talented players from different age groups. This is a great opportunity for the youth to showcase their talent. We have Bengal legends who guide the players as coaches and mentors. The basic concept is to bring young cricketers into the limelight. I am very much hopeful that it will be a successful tournament,” said CAB secretary Snehasish Ganguly.
