18,132 fresh covid cases in a day, highest recovery rate since March 2020

India Coronavirus Cases: India’s active cases account for less than 1 percent of the total infections.

India reported 18,132 new COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours, marginally lower than yesterday’s figure when the country recorded its lowest single-day increase (18,166 cases) in nearly seven months.

Here are the top updates on coronavirus in India:

  1. The daily test positivity rate – the number of positive cases identified per 100 – stands at 1.75 per cent, less than 3 per cent for the last 42 days. The weekly positivity rate is 1.53 percent.

  2. Active cases comprise less than 1 per cent of total infections, which currently stands at 0.67%, the lowest since March 2020.

  3. According to the health ministry, 193 related deaths were recorded during the same period.

  4. The bulletin showed that the national COVID-19 recovery rate was recorded at 98 per cent, the highest since March 2020. With 21,563 being cured in the last 24 hours, the total number of cured people in the country has gone up to 3,32,93,478.

  5. India’s COVID-19 vaccination coverage crossed the 94 crore mark with 66,85,415 vaccine doses administered on Sunday, according to the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. India has so far administered 94,70,10,175 COVID-19 vaccines.

  6. Kerala recorded 10,691 new Covid-19 cases and 85 related deaths on Sunday. The state currently has 1,11,083 active COVID cases, while the test positivity rate stands at 13.05 per cent.

  7. Tamil Nadu added 1,329 new Covid-19 cases on Sunday, taking the total caseload in the state to 26,78,265. With 15 related fatalities, the death count rose to 35,783.

  8. In the fifth mega immunization drive, Tamil Nadu on Sunday vaccinated 22.52 lakh people against COVID-19. The state health department said a total of 11,50,351 people got the first shot and 11,02,290 got the second shot.

  9. Maharashtra reported 2,294 new Covid cases and 28 deaths on Sunday. According to the state health bulletin, during the same period, 1,823 patients have recovered from the infection.

  10. J&K is on track to achieve the milestone of 100% first dose COVID vaccine coverage this week.
