New Delhi: Select government employees are going to get a bumper Diwali bonus as well as hike in dearness allowance, which will add to the celebrations of the upcoming festive season. For example, Indian Railways has decided to give bumper bonus for its employees.
A few days back, Union Minister Anurag Thakur had announced that the Union Cabinet has decided to provide the employees of Indian Railways with a festive bonus of 78 days of their salary.
The bonus will be credited to the bank accounts of the employees before Dussehra. The decision of the Union Cabinet will benefit more than 11.56 lakh non-gazetted employees of Railways.
Thakur also informed that the bonus is usually given for 72 days. But this time the government will give a bonus of 78 days salary to the employees. A total of Rs 1985 crore will be spent for giving bonus to the employees of Indian Railways.
Apart from Indian Railways, Coal India has also announced Performance Linked Rewards (PLR) for its employees. The bonus will be up to Rs 72,500 for all its non-executive cadre workforce for the financial year 2020-21.
Coal India, one of the crown jewels of the Indian company, said the PLR would be paid on or before October 11, 2021, i.e. the employees would get the reward before Dussehra. Read also: Apple Series 6 Watch discontinued from official lineup after Series 7 launch
Meanwhile, the Government of India is also planning to increase the Dearness Allowance of Central Government employees from 3% of their basic pay to the present 28%.
