Afghan Defense Forces Killed Over 400 Taliban Terrorists in Last 24 Hours

Kabul: Afghanistan’s security forces have killed 439 more Taliban militants and injured 77 others in the last 24 hours. “During the last 24 hours 439 Taliban militants were killed and 77 others injured as a result of #ANDSF operations in Nangarhar, Lagman, Logar, Paktia, Uruzgan, Zabul, Ghor, Farah, Balkh, Helmand Kapisa and Baglan provinces.” Afghan Defense Ministry tweeted.

Separately, an airstrike on the outskirts of the Kandahar provincial center killed 25 militants. “Yesterday, 25 Taliban militants were killed and 13 others were injured in an airstrike by the AAF on the outskirts of the Kandahar provincial centre,” the defense ministry said.

Amidst increasing violence in the northern part of the country, Afghanistan President Ashraf Ghani On Wednesday (August 11), he reached the city of Mazar-e-Sharif in Balkh province. The visit comes as the Taliban have captured several provincial capitals in Afghanistan.

Hundreds of thousands of civilians are at risk as fighting escalates in and around Kunduz, Lashkar Gah, Kandahar and other Afghan cities, amid ongoing fighting between Afghan government forces and the Taliban.

Meanwhile, the United States is concerned that Taliban can capture Kabul Much quicker than previous intelligence assessments, at one to three months.

According to the Washington Post, the situation in the country is now worse than in June when US intelligence predicted that Kabul could fall in 6-12 months after US forces withdrew from Afghanistan.
