Kolkata: The West Bengal Board of Secondary Education has substantially reduced the syllabus for the class 10 board exams in 2022.
The teachers said that the decision was taken as no classes were held in the school premises for more than a year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In a statement, the board on Tuesday said there will be a 30-35 per cent reduction in the syllabus of all seven subjects for class 10 students who appear in the secondary examination next year.
This decision has been brought to the notice of the Principals, teachers and students of all affiliated schools.
The headmaster of a government school in Jadavpur said students were facing difficulties due to the suspension of classes on the campus, and online classes were less than enough for an average student to complete the entire syllabus.
In such a situation, the board has taken a practical decision.
