In the second season, Jaspreet Bumrah removed Travis Head to a score of 38. India’s captain Ajinkya Rahane abused him and sent him back to the pavilion.
Labuschagne and Cameron Green then tried to stabilize the innings but Siraj broke the partnership.
Earlier in the day, Australia had a poor start after winning the toss and batting at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
Bumrah removed Joe Burns for the Duck and then Ravichandran Ashwin finished Matthew Wade’s innings for 30 in his second over of the match.
Wade hit a lofted shot and was caught by Ravindra Jadeja, who was on the catch despite a minor collision with Gill.
Ashwin again hit a four in his next over and ducked Steve Smith’s big wicket. The number one Test Test batsman threw the ball into the hands of Cheteshwar Pujara at the leg slip, which was directly off his pad.
Tim Paine and Cameron Green were unbeaten on tea on day one.
