An official said 39 students and five employees of a hostel tested positive for coronavirus in Latur city, Maharashtra.
Latur Municipal Corporation Health Officer Mahesh Patil said that at least 360 students, who live in hostels, undergo COVID-19 tests, 39 out of which Class 9 and 10 have contracted the infection.
He said that the infected students belong to class 9 and 10.
Sixty teaching and non-teaching staff work on the hostel campus, and 30 of these have gone through tests and five are infected.
He said the test report of the remaining employees would be available by the end of the day.
Mr Patil said that after testing, one of the hostel girls tested positive for infection, after which 13 of his roommates were also found infected.
The official said that the infected students and staff have been kept in a government hostel near the city.
