Center failed to protect people in J&K, alleges Congress leader Rajni Patil

Srinagar: Congress leader Rajni Patil on Saturday met the families of those killed by terrorists recently in Jammu and Kashmir and hit out at the Center for “failing” to protect the people.

A Congress spokesperson said the Rajya Sabha member termed the selective killings by terrorists in the union territory as a major failure of the central government.

Patil said this while meeting the family of Mohammad Shafi Dar, who was killed by terrorists three days ago in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district.

Patil, along with JKPCC chief GA Mir and party leader Tariq Hamid Karra, also visited the residences of ML Bindu and Supinder Kaur, who were shot dead by terrorists in separate incidents.

Accusing the Center of failing to protect the people in Jammu and Kashmir, he said the security situation in Kashmir has deteriorated.

He said the Center should take effective steps to ensure the safety of members of the minority community and others in Kashmir.

The spokesperson said Patil and Mir would visit the residence of teacher Deepak Chand, who was also shot dead by the militants, to express solidarity with the bereaved family.
