NEW DELHI: Devendra Singh Rana on Sunday resigned from the primary membership of the National Conference after saying he changed his political path to strengthen the Jammu Declaration.
He further said that the Jammu Declaration will become the voice of Jammu and Kashmir, which will strengthen the Union Territory and the rest of the country.
Rana told ANI, “I believe the Jammu Declaration needs to be strengthened. It will become the voice for Jammu and Kashmir and strengthen the Union Territory and the country. For this I have changed my political path. “
Surjit Singh Salathia on Sunday also resigned from the primary membership of the Farooq Abdullah-led National Conference in Jammu and Kashmir.
After resigning from the party, former minister Salathia said that he always worked for the party but now it is not looking good. He also said that he has no problem with the party or its leadership and will serve the people of the state from outside the party.
National Conference President Dr Farooq Abdullah today accepted the resignations of Salathia and Rana and the party said in an official statement that no further action or comment is considered necessary.
Devendra Rana and Salathia reached Delhi soon after their resignation was announced.
The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) is a regional political party in the union territories of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.
