CISF rescues elderly woman who tried to jump in front of metro in East Delhi

New Delhi: Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) personnel rescued an elderly woman who jumped in front of an oncoming train at Delhi Metro’s Mayur Vihar Extension station on the Blue Line in East Delhi on Friday (October 8).

According to the CISF, a 70-year-old woman living with her family in Haryana’s Bhiwani district got off the Metro going towards Noida Electronic City at Mayur Vihar Extension at around 8.45 am.

She proceeded towards the end corner of the platform level and further down on the metro track and lay down between the tracks at the platform level on the other side.

A CISF official said, “An alert housekeeping staff noticed him and immediately reported the matter to the station controller. The CCTV supervisor also noticed this and informed the matter to be transferred to the in-charge. He made the train stop. Informed the contacting train operator.”

The official further said that the Metro train was stopped and the woman was safely pulled out of the Metro tracks. “When asked the reason behind jumping on the metro line, the woman said that she took this step and wanted to commit suicide due to some domestic issues,” the official said.

After saving his life, CISF contacted his son and informed him about it.
