COVID-19: 1,410 new cases, 18 deaths reported in Maharashtra; Active tally at 23,894


Mumbai: Maharashtra reported 1,410 new coronavirus positive cases on Sunday, taking the total infections to 66,02,961, while the death toll of 18 patients took the toll to 1,40,016, the state health department said.

A total of 1,520 patients recovered and were discharged during the day, taking the total number of recoveries in the state to 64,35,439. There are currently 23,894 active cases in the state. On Sunday, 1,30,732 people were tested. With this the cumulative testing figure reached 6,18,93,695.

The city of Mumbai reported 400 new cases and six deaths, taking its total to 7,54,507 and the death toll to 16,213. The Mumbai division, which includes the city of Mumbai and its satellite townships, reported 702 cases and nine deaths.

The infection count of the region is now 16,96,894 and the death count is 35,454. Nashik division alone reported 174 new cases, including 132 in Ahmednagar district, while Pune division recorded 382 cases, including 170 in Pune district.

77 new cases were registered in Kolhapur division, 12 in Aurangabad division, 50 in Latur division, including 25 in Osmanabad district. Two cases were registered in Akola division, while 11 cases were reported in Nagpur division. Aurangabad, Latur, Akola, Nagpur divisions did not report any COVID-19 death during the day.
