Patna (Uttar Pradesh):
Senior Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) leader Chirag Paswan on Wednesday said the culprits in the sexual assault case involving his cousin and Samastipur MP Prince Raj Paswan should be punished.
“I am still in favor of punishment for the actually guilty in this case. I heard both the sides in January. But I am not authorized to take any decision or side here because I am not the investigating authority. I let them know. To the police, register an FIR and let the matter be probed,” Mr. Paswan told the media.
Referring to the case that his name is also mentioned in the FIR, Paswan said, “I am not an accused. It has been mentioned that I was aware of the whole matter. I was actually aware of the matter. This I was the one who asked both of them to approach the police to resolve the matter.”
LJP leader Prince Raj Paswan, an accused in the alleged sexual assault case, on Tuesday filed an anticipatory bail plea in Delhi’s Rouse Avenue Court seeking protection from arrest in the case.
Prince, who is also the party’s Bihar unit president, was booked in the national capital on August 9 for allegedly raping a former party member.
The FIR was registered following the direction of a Delhi court, nearly three months after the victim lodged a complaint with the police in Delhi.
The woman, who claims to be an LJP worker, has alleged that she was molested in an unconscious state.
