IIT Kanpur partners with Toronto Business Development Center to support Indian startups

IIT KanpurThe Foundation for Innovation and Research in Science and Technology (FIRST) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Toronto Business Development Centre, Canada. It aims to provide business advice, investor and industry connections to startups who qualify under TBDC’s programs such as startup visas and soft-landing programs. The venture will further undertake a joint cross-mentorship program as a collaborative venture for startups from both the countries. In addition, FIRST and TBDC will also provide incubation opportunity for a period of 6 months to the selected startups.

FIRST and TBDC will launch a three-month cross mentorship program to mentor Canadian startups and vice versa, advising Indian startups on go-to-market strategies. In addition, a monthly Startup Connect Meet will be organized to learn and implement the best practices and processes adopted by start-ups from both the countries.

TBDC will conduct screening and interview for the selection of these startups. Startups will then have access to TBDC services such as one-on-one mentor sessions, networking events, investor networks and infrastructure to organize events.
