The India Meteorological Department has predicted very heavy rainfall in some parts of Kerala during the next five days. It has issued an Orange Alert (Heavy to Very Heavy Rain – 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm) for 7 districts- Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam and Idukki for October 11, 12 and 13.
The Meteorological Department has also predicted heavy rains at isolated places over Kerala, Tamil Nadu and South Interior Karnataka during the next five days.
“There is a possibility of widespread to widespread light to moderate rain over South Peninsular India during the next 5 days and over Maharashtra during the next 3 days. Isolated heavy falls very likely over Tamil Nadu, South Interior Karnataka & Kerala during next 5 days,” IMD tweeted.

Heavy rain is very likely over Coastal Karnataka during 11th to 13th October, North Interior Karnataka on 10th, 12th and 13th October, Rayalaseema, South Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Rayalaseema, Konkan and Goa during next 4 days. . IMD said that during October 11 and October 9 to 11 in Madhya Maharashtra.
The IMD also said, “Light to moderate rainfall (wind speed 50-60 kmph) and heavy to very heavy rain very likely at isolated places over Andaman & Nicobar Islands during the next 5 days.”
The IMD had earlier said that the southwest monsoon has withdrawn from some more parts of Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Bihar. It will further move away from parts of Maharashtra, Odisha and West Bengal during the next 2-3 days.
