Ganga dolphin killed in UP, 3 arrested for video going viral

In a disturbing video surfaced from Uttar Pradesh, a dolphin has been beaten to death by a group of men beaten with sticks. Three people have been arrested after the video went viral on social media.

In a tweet, police in Pratapgarh said the incident took place on December 31 and three of the attackers are in jail. Gangetic dolphin is a protected species.

In a display of extreme cruelty, the men are seen on video staring at the dolphin bleeding from their bodies. Some men can be seen holding dolphins. “You are killing me dear (You are attacking it for no reason), “Someone is heard saying that men don’t stop.

Due to the bleeding of the dolphin, a person can be seen attacking with an ax and inserting the weapon into his body. At the end of the video, the dolphin appears almost lifeless from the vicious attack.

A Forest Department official, who responded to a call on the dolphin, reportedly found it lifeless on the banks of a canal. He says in an FIR (First Information Report) that there was a crowd of villagers nearby but when asked, no one was willing to tell how he died. The FIR states that closer inspection of the body resulted in several injuries including an ax wound.

As the video surfaced online, according to police, the men were identified and apprehended from a nearby village.
