SC dismisses plea seeking directions on farmers’ issues regarding forcible land acquisition


New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday dismissed a petition filed by the Bharat Bhoomi Bachao Sangharsh Samiti (BBBSS), in which it directed the officials concerned to ensure equal opportunities for dialogue and hearing on farmers’ issues related to forced land acquisition. Was demanded.

A three-judge bench of the apex court headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Sharad Arvind Bobade and comprising Justices AS Bopanna and V Ramasubramaniam refused to consider the petition.

The bench said, “We are rejecting the petition, we are not placing any aspirations on you.”

The petitioner, BBBSS, moved the Supreme Court seeking appropriate directions and orders to the concerned authorities including the Union of India (UOI), giving equal opportunities for dialogue and seeking resolution of the farmer’s issues related to the forcible takeover.

The petition also demanded the formation of a high-powered committee in the case.

Advocate MC Dhingra appeared for the petitioner.
