BaliAce Indian shuttler PV Sindhu registered an easy straight game win over Germany’s Yvonne Lee in the women’s singles quarterfinals of the Indonesia Open Super 1000 event here on Thursday.
The reigning world champion, seeded third, won the second round 21-12, 21-18 in 37 minutes against the world number 26 in a match of $850,000.
For the first time against Lee, world number 7 Sindhu looked completely in control from the start.
Such was his dominance that the two-time Olympic medalist took the first game easily, winning seven consecutive points in a single leg.
Lee made a good recovery in the second game and it was fought more evenly. But Sindhu remained adamant and did not let the Germans gain her advantage.
Sindhu will take on the winner of the second round clash between Spain’s Beatriz Corrales and South Korea’s Sim Yujin in the quarterfinals.
