METAIRIE: A man walked into a gun store and a shooting range new Orleans Suburbia and Fetli shot two people Sunday, causing customers and employees to fire the shooter, a sheriff said. The shooter also died.
According to a release from the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office, the shooting occurred around 2:50 pm at a Jefferson gun outlet in a suburb of Metair.
Sheriff Joseph Lopinto Said that the shooter initially struck two people inside, and then stored several others – whether employees or customers – to open the shooter from both inside and outside the building. Outside the building a man can be seen shouting yellow police tape “Where is my son?” Guns and ammunition are sold in front of the outlets that face mainly through Jefferson Parish. Customers who want to fall into the gun category repeatedly, usually go around the side entrance of the building. Employees who work there often wear a sidewalk.
Lopinto said two other people were also hit by bullets and were hospitalized in stable condition. He said there were many shooters in all and investigators had just started trying to piece together.
“We’re trying to do it all together, piece it together,” the sheriff said.
None of the dead or injured were immediately identified and details remained sketched. Lopinto said the investigation was ongoing as officials tried to determine the exact details of what happened.
Caution tapes surrounded the business, where ambulances and several law enforcement vehicles had already arrived, to prevent spectators from getting close to the scene. A neighbor Taco Bell Was evacuated.
Metairie is a major suburb of New Orleans, in Jefferson Parish, about five miles (eight kilometers) west of the city’s iconic French Quarter.
