Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Ruturaj Gaikwad has revealed that skipper MS Dhoni advises him to start afresh in every game.
Gaikwad’s innings 70 as Chennai Super Kings (CSK) beat Delhi Capitals by four wickets in Qualifier 1 at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday.
“It’s perfectly normal. Whatever you’ve been following throughout the tournament, go through the normal routine and just try and be neutral. Every game you start from 0, so start over and start anew And it’s important to be ready for the challenge. It is. The powerplay was a crucial phase and the wicket was a bit on hold. We got off to a good start. Robin batted really well, he took the bowlers and for me till then It just got a little easier to stay at the end and bat throughout the innings.” Gaikwad told host broadcaster Star Sports after the match.
“At times, you have to take strange risks. I plan 2-3 overs, think who can bowl and who can I target, big or small, who can I target better. You have to be crystal clear, go through the process, take one over at a time and make sure the required rate doesn’t go up too much, and take it deeply. Every time, Dhoni tries to encourage me and start every game afresh. Let’s try. Learn from every game and move on. He said try and finish the game. That’s what separates good players from normal players. I just want to learn as much as I can while he’s here and stay humble.” she added.
