Jammu and Kashmir: Army foils infiltration bid along LoC in Baramulla, 3 terrorists killed

Srinagar: The Army on Thursday (September 23) gunned down three heavily armed terrorists while thwarting an infiltration bid along the Line of Control (LoC) in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.

This is the second infiltration attempt in the last one week in the Uri sector after the five-day search operation was called off. This was disclosed by GOC 15 Corps Lt Gen DP Pandey in a joint press conference of Army and Police.

Pandey said, “This morning, alert soldiers spotted a group of infiltrators in Hathlanga area of ​​Uri sector. They were challenged and three terrorists were killed. The September 18 bid was foiled and the terrorists were pushed back.

Briefing media persons through video-conferencing, the commanding officer of the operation said, “This morning, the Army spotted a group of terrorists in Hathlanga area of ​​Uri at 6 am. Surveillance was stepped up and the group was challenged. Three terrorists were killed. After a brief exchange of fire.” He further said that all three were killed terrorists They were carrying a huge quantity of arms and ammunition which included five AK-47 rifles, seven pistols, 5 AK magazines, 24 UBGL grenades, 38 Chinese grenades, seven Pakistan-made grenades, Rs 35,000 in Pakistani currency and some food items.

The Lt Gen further said, “We have found documents which show that one of them is Pakistani, but we are not sure about the other two. We will see and tell you which organization they belong to.”

“The army is on alert and we were expecting a change in Pakistan’s behavior in the month of September and infiltration before the onset of winter. We are ready to thwart all bids,” he said.

“We have credible information about a lot of activities on the launch pad and that’s what we saw today and on the 18th. And those activities cannot happen without the hands of local army (Pakistani) commanders,” Pandey said.

In addition, he said, “We are deployed with sufficient forces on the ground. In terms of behavior, we had appreciated it in September and October. We suspended the internet to break the terrorists’ contact with the local masters. 18 There was an infiltration attempt on the date night. Six were on their side, 4 were on their side and two had crossed. This is rough terrain, we two went back under pressure. To verify, we did a thorough search. And now after completely sanitizing the area, we have called off the operation.”
