Jharkhand: Marandi’s advisor gets bail in rape case

Jharkhand High Court on Friday granted bail to Sunil Tiwari – Political Advisor Sunil Tiwari BJP Legislature Party leader Babulal Marandi – in an alleged rape case registered in August this year. According to court records, the alleged rape took place in March last year and the case was registered on August 16 this year. Tiwari was arrested in September.

Tiwari’s lawyer and former state advocate general RS Majumdar told Naveen Bharat: “Bail has been granted to Tiwari by the Jharkhand High Court. One of the main conditions is that one must not enter Jharkhand for six months except when called for by an investigative agency or a court.”

In previous presentations, Tiwari argued in his anticipatory bail and regular bail pleas that he was “innocent and did not make any allegations”.

As per court records, he had submitted that he had no criminal history and the matter was delayed. “It is further submitted that the petitioner has been falsely implicated in the present case on account of political rivalry,” the court record said.
