Lakhimpur Kheri violence: Sachin Pilot condemns ‘manhandling’ with Priyanka Gandhi by UP Police

New Delhi: Congress leader Sachin Pilot on Monday (October 4) hit out at the Center and the Uttar Pradesh government for “manhandling” Priyanka Gandhi on her way to meet the families of victims of the Lakhimpur Kheri violence.

He said that the manner in which he was abused shows that the central and state government are scared.

“You saw how he treated Priyanka Gandhi. I think a scuffle with a single leader shows that the BJP governments in the state and at the Center are scared,” the pilot said.

“When the general secretary of our party” Priyanka Gandhi wanted to meet family The deceased farmers, Uttar Pradesh administration and police misbehaved with her, a woman leader. It shows his mindset. We condemn this incident.”

Priyanka Gandhi, MP Deepender Hooda and other Congress leaders, who reached Lakhimpur Kheri border, were not allowed to meet the families of farmers killed in the violence.

He further alleged that the Yogi Adityanath-led government “has a habit of working beyond the law of the land”.

He demanded a judicial inquiry into the killing of eight people, including four farmers.

He said that the culprits should be given the harshest punishment and the families of the farmers who died should be given adequate compensation.

Pilot recalled that Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi were also stopped last year when they were on their way to meet the family of the Hathras rape victim.

He said that this time also Priyanka Gandhi was illegally stopped without any order and later detained.
