Farmer leaders said they have rejected the Special Investigation Team (SIT) and judicial inquiry set up by the UP government, noting that even the Supreme Court had said it was not satisfied.

Joginder Singh Ugrahan, a prominent farmer leader of Punjab’s largest farm union BKU (Ugrahan), said that the central government has taken a violent stand against the protesting farmers but farmers will not take the path of violence.

Tikait also criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his “silence” on the incident.
