Maharashtra Bandh Live Updates: Several trade groups extend support; BJP warns government not to forcefully close shops

Shops across Maharashtra will remain closed today as the state government has called for a bandh to protest the killing of farmers in Lakhimpur Kheri in Uttar Pradesh.

The state government said that everything would remain closed except for essential services. Agricultural Produce Market Committee or vegetable market will also remain closed.

Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut said that his party will participate in the bandh with full force. “The three parties will actively participate in the bandh. What happened in Lakhimpur Kheri was a conspiracy to kill the Constitution, violate the law and kill the farmers of the country,” Raut told reporters.

The state BJP has warned the state government not to forcibly close the shops.
