Man sentenced to five years in jail for sexual assault of girls in Uttar Pradesh


Muzaffarnagar: A POCSO court in Shamli’s Kairana has sentenced a man to five years in jail for sexually assaulting a girl child last year. Officials gave this information on Saturday.

Besides the quantum of punishment, Special Judge Mumtaz Ali on Friday evening imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict Jai Bhagwan under section 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. Section 9 and 10 of the Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act here.

According to Special Counsel Pushpendra Malik, on August 1, 2020, Bhagwan sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl in Adarsh ​​Mandi police station area of ​​Shamli district. In another case, Monu alias Kokin was sentenced to 10 years and 11 months imprisonment. On charges of UP Gangsters Act by a special court in Muzaffarnagar.

Along with this, Special Judge Radheshyam Yadav has also imposed a fine of 10 thousand rupees on the guilty. Monu was booked under the Act in 2011 for his involvement in several robbery cases in Bhora Kalan police station area of ​​the district.
