Muzaffarnagar: A POCSO court in Shamli’s Kairana has sentenced a man to five years in jail for sexually assaulting a girl child last year. Officials gave this information on Saturday.
Besides the quantum of punishment, Special Judge Mumtaz Ali on Friday evening imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convict Jai Bhagwan under section 354 (assault or criminal force with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman) of the Indian Penal Code. Section 9 and 10 of the Penal Code and Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act here.
According to Special Counsel Pushpendra Malik, on August 1, 2020, Bhagwan sexually assaulted a five-year-old girl in Adarsh Mandi police station area of Shamli district. In another case, Monu alias Kokin was sentenced to 10 years and 11 months imprisonment. On charges of UP Gangsters Act by a special court in Muzaffarnagar.
Along with this, Special Judge Radheshyam Yadav has also imposed a fine of 10 thousand rupees on the guilty. Monu was booked under the Act in 2011 for his involvement in several robbery cases in Bhora Kalan police station area of the district.
