The latest offering also gets an Artificial Intelligence (AI) powered personal assistant as part of its i-Smart Hub.
The new MG Astor will be a petrol-only SUV and will be offered with a choice of two petrol mills. The first will be a new 1.5-litre naturally aspirated unit that is geared to produce 108 bhp at 6000 rpm and 144 Nm of peak torque at 4400 rpm. It will come with manual gearbox and 8-speed CVT gearbox. The SUV will also be available with a more powerful turbo petrol engine – a 1.3-litre turbocharged unit. The motor will make 138 bhp at 5600 rpm and 220 Nm of peak torque at 3600 rpm. This engine will come with a 6-speed automatic torque converter unit as standard.
