Naveen Patnaik wrote a letter to PM on the issue of purchase of rice

As the standoff continues over the purchase of additional boiled rice from Odisha by the Food Corporation of India (FCI), the Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik On Sunday, he wrote a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi seeking his intervention in the matter.

Patnaik said the paddy procurement operations of the state could be severely affected and more than 10 lakh farmers in the state could be affected due to non-lifting of extra boiled rice from Odisha due to restrictions by the Food and Public Distribution Department. To issue directions to DFPD to accept the estimated surplus rice from the State for the next KMS (Kharif Marketing Season) 2021-22. In addition, appropriate time may also be given to the State to align itself with the requirements of the DFPD.”
