NCB chief Sameer Wankhede writes to Mumbai seeking protection from action on ‘false allegations’

Mumbai: Sameer Wankhede, Mumbai Zonal Director of Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) – who made headlines for drug busts on cruise in Mumbai, approached the Mumbai Police Commissioner on Sunday (October 24, 2021) seeking protection from possible legal action. In a letter addressed to Police Commissioner Hemant Nagrale, Wankhede said he has learned that legal action has “precipitated” for some people. Unknown persons are planning to falsely implicate him With regard to the alleged vigilance issue.

The 2008 batch IRS officer requested the police commissioner to ensure that no such legal action is taken to implicate him with malafide intentions. Further, he mentioned that Deputy Director General (DDG) Mutha Ashok Jain has already referred the said matter to the Director General (DG) of NCB for necessary action.

Without naming anyone, Wankhede claimed that jail and dismissal threats have been issued against him on public media by highly respected public functionaries. Wankhede was embroiled in controversy after Shah Rukh Khan’s son Aryan Khan was arrested in a drug case.

Earlier, one of the witnesses had claimed complicity between the zonal officer of the NCB and KP Gosavi – the alleged private investigator, who had reported to the NCB. Gosavi’s selfie with Aryan Khan went viral.

The witness is Prabhakar Cell, the driver of Gosavi. According to SAIL, Wankhede had demanded Rs 8 crore from Shah Rukh Khan to release Aryan in the drugs case. Wankhede vehemently denied any wrongdoing, and said he would give a “appropriate answer”.

According to NDTV, in an affidavit filed by Prabhakar Cell, the personal bodyguard of KP Gosavi, he claimed that he was present in a car and heard KP Gosavi talking to Sam D’Souza of a deal worth 18 crores, of which 80 crores were Samir Wankhede. was to be paid. He further claimed that he himself had received the cash from KP Gosavi which was to be handed over to Sam D’Souza.
