NIA arrests two TRF operatives backed by Lashkar-e-Taiba in J&K

Srinagar: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Sunday (October 10) arrested two operatives of the Lashkar-e-Taiba-backed terrorist group The Resistance Front (TRF) in Jammu and Kashmir.

Tauseef Ahmed Wani and Faiz Ahmed Khan were arrested for their involvement in the TRF conspiracy.

The agency conducted searches at seven places in Kulgam, Srinagar and Baramulla districts with the help of CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police.

The NIA was probing the case of seizure of an IED from a Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist in Bathindi Jammu on June 27. Earlier, three Lashkar terrorists were arrested in this case.

The agency said that during the investigation they found that “the masterminds of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba, a Pakistan-based terrorist organization and their associates based in Jammu and Kashmir, had hatched a conspiracy to carry out wide-ranging terrorist activities to harm the general public.” “

“They had planned that the responsibility for terrorist acts would be taken by the pseudo-abbreviation TRF in order to maintain plausible denial and avoid law enforcement agencies,” the NIA said.

During the search, the NIA said that it found several digital devices including mobiles, pen drives, data storage devices and other incriminating material.
