Pakistan trolled for printing ‘UAE 2021’ instead of ‘India 2021’ on T20 World Cup jersey, picture went viral

Ahead of the upcoming T20 World Cup, the Pakistan cricket team has courted controversy by writing ‘T20 World Cup UAE 2021’ instead of ‘India 2021’ on its jersey for the mega event in a leaked picture on social media.

A picture is going viral on social media in which Pakistan captain Babar Azam The kit for the tournament can be seen in play, which has UAE as the host. “ICC Men’s T20 World Cup UAE 2021”, reads on the top right of the batsman’s jersey.

The T20 World Cup was originally scheduled to be played in India, however, due to the current COVID-19 situation in the country, it was shifted to UAE and Oman. But, BCCI is still the official host of the mega event and hence, all team jerseys should be written ‘ICC Men’s T20 World Cup India 2021’ as per ICC rules.

Here is the leaked picture of Pakistan jersey:

This act of Pakistan is shocking and it can upset both BCCI and ICC. However, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has not officially unveiled the jersey, and it remains to be seen whether they go ahead with the same kit.

Meanwhile, netizens slammed Pakistan for writing United Arab Emirates instead of India on their jerseys. Check out some of the responses:

Several teams, which are playing in the qualifying rounds of the World Cup, have already unveiled their jerseys, which mention India as the host on their kit. ‘India 2021’ can be seen written on the jerseys of Scotland and the Netherlands.

Virat Kohli-led Team India will play its first match of the T20 World Cup against arch-rivals Pakistan in Dubai on October 24 and the clash off the pitch could intensify.

Meanwhile, the Pakistan team will conduct a seven-day training and conditioning camp under bio-secure protocols from Sunday at the National High-Performance Center and LCCA Ground in Lahore. The team will leave for Dubai on October 15.
