PM Narendra Modi to inaugurate ‘Azadi@75’ Conference-cum-Expo in Lucknow today

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Lucknow on Tuesday to inaugurate the ‘Azadi@75-New Urban India: Transforming the Urban Landscape’ conference-cum-expo at the Indira Gandhi Foundation.

The Prime Minister will inaugurate the convention-cum-expo at 10.30 am and unveil 75 urban development projects in Uttar Pradesh.

“The Prime Minister will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for 75 urban development projects of Uttar Pradesh under Smart City Mission and AMRUT,” an official release said.

The Prime Minister will digitally hand over keys of Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Urban (PMAY-U) houses to 75,000 beneficiaries in 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh and will also interact virtually with the beneficiaries of the Uttar Pradesh scheme.

He will flag off 75 buses under FAME-II for seven cities including Lucknow, Kanpur, Varanasi, Prayagraj, Gorakhpur, Jhansi and Ghaziabad.

The Prime Minister will also release a coffee table book covering 75 projects implemented under various major missions of the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.

The Prime Minister will also visit three exhibitions being set up at the expo and announce the establishment of Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee Peeth at Babasaheb Bhimrao Ambedkar University (BBAU), Lucknow.

Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Union Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Hardeep Puri, Governor Anandiben Patel and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath will also be present on the occasion.

The conference-cum-expo is based on transforming the urban landscape with a special focus on the transformative changes brought about in Uttar Pradesh. All the States/UTs will participate in the Conference-cum-Expo, which will help in sharing of experience, commitment and direction for further course of action.

The conference-cum-expo is being organized by the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA) from October 5 to 7 as part of the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, the release said.

Three exhibitions are being set up at the Conference-cum-Expo:

An exhibition titled ‘New Urban India’ showcasing the achievements of transformative urban missions and projections for the future. It will highlight the achievements under major urban missions over the past seven years and the Houses projections for the future.

The exhibition on 75 Innovative Construction Technologies, titled ‘Indian Housing Technology Mela’ (IHTM) under the Global Housing Technology Challenge-India (GHTC-India), showcases indigenously developed indigenous and innovative construction technologies, materials and processes.

UP@75: Transforming Urban Landscape in Uttar Pradesh with the theme Flagship Urban Mission and Future Projection to showcase the performance of Uttar Pradesh post 2017 onwards.

The exhibition will showcase the achievements made so far under various major urban missions of MoHUA, the release said.

The themes of the exhibition are Clean Urban India, Water Safe Cities, Housing for All, New Construction Technologies, Smart City Development, Cities Promoting Sustainable Mobility and Livelihood Opportunities.

The conference-cum-expo will be open to the public for two days – on October 6 and 7.
