New Delhi: Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s son Navjit Singh got married on Sunday (10 October 2021) in Mohali. As per Sikh customs ‘Anand Karaj’ was performed at Gurdwara Sacha Dhan. Sitting next to his son, Chief Minister Channi himself took the SUV to the gurdwara.
Channi’s son Navjeet is reportedly married to Simrandhir Kaur, an engineering graduate from Amlala village near Dera Bassi in Mohali district.
Punjab Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Congress General Secretary Harish Rawat, Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, OP Soni, Minister Manpreet Singh Badal, Brahm Mohindra, Pargat Singh, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, MLA Rana Gurmeet Sodhi, MP Manish Tewari and others were present. Attended a simple wedding ceremony.
Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh also attended the wedding and did a ‘langar’ (community kitchen) with the couple and Channi’s family at the gurudwara.
However, Punjab Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu did not attend the event as he was in Jammu to visit the Mata Vaishno Devi temple.
In a tweet, Sidhu said, “Darshan of Primitive Maa during Navratras is synergistic… washes away all dirt from the soul!! Blessed is the lotus feet of Mata Vaishno Devi,” Sidhu said in a tweet and a picture shared.
