Harshal Patel, the highest wicket-taker in this year’s IPL, is on the verge of breaking a big record in the T20 league. NS Royal Challengers Bangalore Fast bowler Dwayne Bravo, who has taken 30 wickets so far in the current season, is just three wickets away from breaking the record for most wickets in an edition of the IPL. Bravo took 32 wickets representing Chennai Super Kings in 2013. Harshal will be in action during this on Monday RCB Eliminator match against Kolkata Knight Riders. The winner of that game will face Delhi Capitals, who lost the first qualifier to Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
Harshal had already broken the record for most wickets taken by an Indian in an IPL season. The seamer went past Jasprit Bumrah, who took 27 wickets in the 2020 edition of the cash-rich league, with three wickets against Sunrisers Hyderabad.
Harshal has been on a record-breaking spree in the ongoing edition. He also holds the record for most wickets by an uncapped bowler in a season.
Harshal, who plays his domestic cricket for Haryana, is all set to end the season with a purple cap. He currently has seven wickets more than second-ranked Avesh Khan (23 wickets) in the Purple Cap race.
His stellar performances this season have led many fans in India to join India’s squad for the upcoming T20 World Cup to be held in UAE and Oman from October 17 to November 14.
Harshal did not make it to the 15-man squad named by India last month and neither did the three players named in reserve.
