Shipping Minister Sonowal launches ‘MyPortApp’ for digital monitoring of port operations


Kolkata: Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday launched a port mobile application named ‘MyPort App’ in Kolkata. The app aims to promote transparency and easy access to port related information.

Aimed at port users to avail various port services, the app digitally incorporates all port details and monitors operations, the Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways said in a statement.

“The app contains various information like berthing of the vessel, rake and indent, rake receipt, container status, tariff, bill, port holiday etc. and can be accessed 24×7 anywhere and directly to the port,” the ministry said. could.” Statement.

Union Minister Sonowal also inaugurated a 1 MW solar plant at Haldia port to produce renewable energy for port operations. With a guaranteed power generation of 1.4 million KWH per year, the project will promote self-use and reduce its carbon footprint to meet the commitment to the National Solar Mission.

This will also bring down the unit rate of power generated and help in saving Rs 70 lakh per year, the statement said.

The Haldia Dock Complex of Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Port has also undertaken the development and development of GC Berth Road to improve port operations. At a cost of Rs 29 crore, the project aims to establish connectivity for the movement of traffic on the western side of the dock. According to the statement, this will also increase evacuation efficiency due to road widening and reduction in accidents due to unidirectional flow of traffic.

Notably, Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal is on a 2-day visit to West Bengal where he inaugurated, launched and dedicated several projects worth Rs 352 crore to the nation.
