Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha launched the cleaning and de-weeding drive of the world famous Dal Lake in Srinagar on the occasion of Gandhi Jayanti on October 2. About 1,000 boats and 2,000 persons will be engaged in the mega clean-up and de-weeding of the lake. . This campaign will last for a fortnight. The Lake and Waterways Development Authority (LAWDA) is the nodal agency to implement the cleanliness drive. Lt Governor Sinha said that some de-weeding machines are operational in the lake, but the administration will employ more machines to clean the reservoir.
Retired engineers to be hired to carry out RDD works
The Jammu and Kashmir government has ordered hiring of retired engineers on contract basis for execution of works in the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj. The contractual appointment of retired engineers will be done after inviting applications from eligible candidates. The contract period will be for one year, which will be extended further in case of satisfactory performance and requirement. As per the official order issued by the Principal Secretary (Rural Development & Panchayati), Raj Bipul Pathak, the contractual agreements can be terminated by the competent authority at any time without assigning any reason. “The contractual engagement shall not confer any right or claim or entitlement to any regularization or continuance of service,” it added.
Redressal of 660 grievances of migrants
The administration has so far resolved around 660 complaints related to Kashmiri migrant properties in Srinagar. The government had last month launched a portal for redressal of grievances related to immovable properties of Kashmiri migrants. The applications filed by the revenue authorities on the portal will be disposed of within a stipulated time frame under the Public Service Guarantee Act, 2011. Srinagar Deputy Commissioner, Mohammad Ejaz Asad said that out of 660 complaints received by the district administration, 390 were alleging fraud or alienation from distress sale.
160 students of NIT got offer of campus placement
Over 160 students of National Institute of Technology (NIT) Srinagar received job offers from 35 companies in the campus placement season of 2021-22. The minimum annual CTC (cost to company) package offered to these students is ₹8.5 lakh. All the selected students belong to the seventh semester batch and the recruitment process is still on. The placement drive was started in mid-July and 35 companies conducted virtual interviews with the candidates. Officials said that NIT will also conduct online placement season. Despite the outbreak of Covid-19 last year, over 250 students received job offers in placements as over 135 companies conducted interviews.
