The case was transferred to the Crime Branch unit of the Delhi Police in December last year on the directions of the Supreme Court.

The rape accused, identified as Vikas Mittal, was also arrested from the IGI airport last year, but the victim was still receiving threats from unknown people, the official said.

He said that a month later, unidentified persons threatened the victim near the Civil Lines metro station.

Based on the latest threat, a case was registered with the help of an eyewitness, who was also targeted and later attacked, police said.

Later, the Supreme Court transferred the case to the crime branch and directed the police to nab the culprits who were still threatening the woman and eyewitness Sumit Yadav.

Based on the threat calls, the police said that they managed to identify the callers, but they kept changing their location.

Kumar, the first accused, was arrested from Gurgaon. The senior police officer said he confessed to harassing the victim and disclosed to have worked with Yadav and Goel.

He said that on the basis of interrogation, Goyal was arrested from Noida and Yadav from Chandigarh.

During interrogation it was revealed that the brother-in-law of Goyal accused Mittal has been arrested and he had a business dispute with him. The officer said that to take revenge on him, he planned to arrest her and started threatening the rape victim posing as Mittal.

He said his accomplices flew to Ujjain to keep an eye on Mittal and after he was arrested, they started threatening the woman.

“During interrogation, accused Goyal told the police that he suspected Mittal behind his previous arrest and wanted to take revenge. So he hatched a conspiracy and took his employees Yadav and Kumar along,” the officer said.
