Lakhimpur Kheri: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav on Friday met the family of Daljit Singh, a farmer killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri violence in Bahraich.
“Until the resignation of the Minister of State for Home, justice will not be given to the families of these victims,” Yadav said.
Earlier in the day too, Yadav demanded the resignation of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident and hoped that the families of those killed in the violence would get justice soon.
Talking to reporters, Yadav said, “The Supreme Court has taken cognizance of the incident, now it is hoped that justice will be given to the affected families. Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra Teni should resign.
Eight people were killed in the Lakhimpur Kheri incident that took place on October 3.
The Samyukta Kisan Morcha (SKM), an umbrella body of several farmer unions, alleged that Teni’s son Ashish Mishra arrived with three vehicles when the farmers were dispersed by their protest at the helipad and crushed the farmers.
However, Ashish Mishra denied the allegations of SKM and said that he was not present at the place where the incident took place.
