Special session of Delhi Assembly today, farmers’ issues on the agenda

New Delhi: A one-day special session of the Delhi Legislative Assembly will be held on Friday (November 26), marking a year since the farmers’ protest.

According to PTI sources, the AAP government is expected to table a resolution in the special session of the Delhi Assembly for compensation to the kin of over 700 farmers who were killed during this period. Protest and legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops.

“It will also seek withdrawal of cases registered against farmers for protesting against agricultural laws and removal and arrest of Union Minister of State for Home Ajay Mishra in connection with the Lakhimpur incident,” sources said. He said that Delhi Development Minister Gopal Rai will present the proposal.

During the one-day special session dedicated to the farmers’ movement, the Delhi government will also keep the annual reports of many institutions in the house.

Meanwhile, the opposition BJP has accused the AAP government of refraining from discussing Delhi-related issues like air pollution, liquor policy and condition of local farmers.

Leader of the Opposition Ramvir Bidhuri was quoted as saying by the news agency, “The opposition will take up the problems of Delhi vigorously and we have given notice to Speaker Ram Niwas Goel for a short-term discussion on these main subjects.”
