In another run-fest on Thursday, Punjab batsman Abhishek Sharma dropped a ton, while Royal Challengers Bangalore star opener Devdutt Padikkal scored an unbeaten 99 in the current Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy in their respective matches.
Abhishek scored 107 off 62 balls, giving his team a score of 200/4 in 20 overs in the clash against Railways. Batting at a strike-rate of 172.58, the left-handed batsman hit five fours and nine maximum sixes during his innings.

In reply to Punjab’s 200, Dinesh More-led Railways could only score 83 runs and lost the match by 117 runs. Among the Punjab bowlers, were Harpreet Brar and the young Arshdeep Singh, who closed out the competition with clinical figures. Harpreet took four wickets in her four-over quota and conceded 22 runs, while Arshdeep took three wickets and conceded 16 runs in his four overs.
In a thrilling encounter between Karnataka and Tripura, Padikkakal played an unbeaten innings of 99 runs and helped him score a challenging 167/5 runs on the board. His innings included nine fours and four sixes.

Chasing 167, Tripura fought a heroic battle, but eventually fell by 10 runs. Tripura captain Mani Shankar Mursingh along with Rajat Dey added 89 runs for the fifth wicket. Both batsmen remained unbeaten, including the late blitz by Mani Shankar, who scored 61 out of 33.
