Successfully test-fired Agni-V ballistic missile with 5,000 km range

New Delhi:

India today successfully test-fired a surface-to-surface ballistic missile, Agni-5, from APJ Abdul Kalam Island off the coast of Odisha.

The missile, which uses a three-stage solid fuel engine, is capable of hitting targets at ranges up to 5,000 km with very high accuracy.

The launch took place today at 7:50 pm.

The successful test-fire of Agni-5 is in line with India’s stated policy of “reliable minimum deterrence”, which underlines its commitment to “no first use”.
