T20 World Cup: India ready for Super 12 match with New Zealand with ‘fun drill’, BCCI shares stunning pictures

Dubai: India are gearing up for their next big match against New Zealand in the ongoing T20 World Cup after a crushing 10-wicket defeat at the hands of arch-rivals Pakistan in the Super 12 encounter on Sunday last week.

The Virat Kohli-led side has been working hard at the nets and trying to fix loose ends ahead of the crucial match later this week. The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) shared some pictures of players during net practice, which it called “fun drill” and with the caption “we are back”.

“We are back! A fun exercise to start our session,” tweeted the official Twitter handle of BCCI.

In the still pictures, players are seen standing in small groups during the drill. Captain Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin, Hardik Pandya and even net bowler Avesh Khan can be easily seen in those pictures.

With a formidable struggling side, India were the top favorites to win the T20 World Cup tournament to be held in United Arab Emirates, Oman. However, India lost their big match against arch-rivals Pakistan by 10 wickets on 24 October.

Interestingly, the Black Caps also lost their first match against Pakistan by five wickets at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.

With both India and Pakistan not off to the right start to their T20 World Cup campaigns, the upcoming clash between the two sides on Sunday will be a “winning” match for both the teams hoping to make it to the semi-finals.

India will now aim to make a comeback against Kane Williamson-led New Zealand in their second Group 2 game of the Super 12 stage on October 31. After a 5-wicket win over the Black Caps, Pakistan are currently at the top of the points table.
