New Delhi: Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Monday (October 4, 2021) targeted the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government over the Lakhimpur Kheri incident. While going to Lakhimpur Kheri to meet the families of the victims, Priyanka said that this incident shows that the BJP government is doing politics to crush the farmers.
“Today’s incident shows that this government is using politics to crush the farmers. This country is a country of farmers, not of BJP’s ideology,” he told ANI.
The Congress leader also alleged that she was being stopped on her way to Lakhimpur and said, “I am not committing any crime by deciding to meet the victim’s kin… why are you stopping us? You have a warrant.” Should be…?”
8 killed in Lakhimpur Kheri violence
Eight people, including four farmers and four riders, have died in the vehicle that allegedly ran over the farmers. “In the unfortunate incident of Lakhimpur, 8 casualties have been reported so far as per the district administration. ADG LO, ACS Agriculture, IG Range and Commissioner are on the spot and the situation is under control. Adequate deployment has been made to stop anyone. There have been untoward incidents,” the Uttar Pradesh Police said.
According to the district administration, so far 8 people have been reported to have been injured in the unfortunate incident of Lakhimpur. ADG LO, ACS Agriculture, IG Range and Commissioner are on the spot and the situation is under control. Adequate deployment has been made to prevent any untoward incident.

MoS Ajay Mishra Teni has denied the allegations of SKM and said that His son was not present at the spot. He said some miscreants joined the protesting farmers and pelted stones at the car, leading to an “unfortunate incident”.
“My son was not present at the spot. There were some miscreants who attacked the workers with sticks and swords. Had my son been there, he would not have come out alive. During the Lakhimpur Kheri Yatra, our workers had come to us amid protests by farmers. Some miscreants from among the agitating farmers started pelting stones on the car and injured our driver. This made our car unbalanced and killed 2 people who came under it. After this, 3 of our workers died. Gone and the cars were set on fire,” Teni said.
“They killed people and damaged and set cars on fire. We have video evidence,” he said, adding that four of his workers were killed and added that cases under section 302 would be registered against the culprits.
Rakesh Tikait reached Lakhimpur Kheri
Bharatiya Kisan Union (BKU) leader Rakesh Tikait along with many supporters reached Lakhimpur Kheri in the early hours of Monday. The farmer leader said that he would first meet the farmers and villagers and discuss the situation with them.

“Further action will be taken based on discussions with the villagers and farmers. Their decision will be valid,” Tikait told reporters in Banbirpur village.
Samajwadi Party national president and former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav, Rashtriya Lok Dal (RLD) chief Jayant Chaudhary, Bhim Army supremo Chandrashekhar and many other leaders will also visit the violence-hit district.
