A meeting is underway at the Prime Minister’s Office to review the status of coronovirus in the country, with cases having increased in the last few days, and for the emergence of new mutated versions of the virus.
Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan is among those who attended this meeting.
According to government data released this morning, there are about 1.47 lakh active coronavirus cases in the country. The total number of cases recorded since the epidemic began in China in December 2019 is now more than 11 million, with 1.56 million deaths associated with the virus.
Maharashtra and Kerala are the worst affected states and are seeing an increase in new cases worrying the Center. Maharashtra has registered more than 5,200 new cases in 24 hours, while Kerala has detected more than 2,200.
