Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra In Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, a farmer meeting stopped speech in the middle today, when the mother of a rape victim in the crowd shouted slogans demanding justice. The woman was from Rajasthan, where the Congress is in power.
The woman’s daughter was allegedly raped in Bharatput in Rajasthan, which is in the Uttar Pradesh border. She lives with relatives in Mathura and decided to attend a Congress rally when she heard that Priyanka Gandhi would come for it.
Congress leaders were on the dais while addressing the farmers’ meeting, when she was raising slogans of the woman.
Priyanka Gandhi spoke to the woman and took her aside. He called Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot on the spot and asked him to help him avoid rape.
Mr. Gehlot reportedly assured immediate action.
The media advisor of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath tweeted the incident, accusing Priyanka Gandhi of second-degree status.
“Neither these tears will be visible to the media nor Priyanka-ji because this mother’s innocent baby girl was raped in Rajasthan and had to come to UP for Priyanka Gandhi’s rally. Rajasthan rapes are maximum but Rahul Gandhi And Priyanka Gandhi does not. Shalabh Mani Tripathi tweeted, “Either raise issues or give justice.”
Priyanka Gandhi, the Congress general secretary in-charge in Uttar Pradesh, has frequently visited the state and, in recent weeks, attended a farmer protest rally there.
He has targeted the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in UP for crimes against women, especially in incidents of alleged gang rape of a young woman in Hathras, who later died.
