The court passed the order based on a complaint filed by one Adil Chauhan, stating that he was severely beaten by the police on September 25, 2020, as he was not masked.

The complainant said that he demanded action against the policemen from a senior officer of Junagadh police, but to no avail, after which he approached the court.

Video of the incident was widely shared on social media, with policemen appearing to beat Chauhan with sticks while he was standing behind a vehicle with both his hands tied.

The accused policemen have been identified as Sub-Inspectors BK Chavda, Bharat Singh Sisodia, Jagdish Virbhai, Somatsingh Sisodia and Janak Singh Sisodia of Vanthali Police Station.
