An airliner was forced to make an emergency evacuation after an unruly passenger landed at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Saturday, the airline said.
Republic Airways said in a statement that the Embraer E-175 from Indianapolis to New York with 78 passengers and four crew members “declared an emergency” at the end of the flight and landed at LaGuardia without incident.
Upon exiting the active runway, the aircraft stopped on a taxiway and conducted a “precautionary emergency evacuation”.
The concerned passenger has been taken into custody.
A Republic Airways spokesperson did not provide any details about the passenger’s behaviour. The New York airport authority did not immediately respond when contacted by AFP.
