UP: Former village head, seven others booked for assaulting BJP worker


Muzaffarnagar: A case has been registered against eight people, including a former village head, for attacking a BJP worker over personal enmity in Makhiyali village here. The police gave this information on Sunday.

According to the complaint lodged at New Mandi police station, it is alleged that Shahnawaz, who was returning home on Bhopa Road in the district, was attacked by former village head Sandeep and seven others with sharp weapons.

He was taken to the hospital where he is undergoing treatment.

Based on the complaint, an FIR has been registered against the accused.

Police is searching for the accused.

Shahnawaz is the husband of Zilla Panchayat member Zarina, who had won on a BJP ticket in the recent panchayat elections.
