State Department spokesman Ned Price said on Sunday that a US interagency delegation traveled to Qatar to meet senior Taliban representatives in Kabul and discuss issues of important national interest.
According to Ned Price, the US delegation reiterated that the Taliban will be judged by its actions, not just its words. “On October 9 and 10, an inter-agency delegation traveled to Doha, Qatar to meet senior representatives of the Taliban. The US delegation addressed security and terrorism concerns and the safety of US citizens, other foreign nationals and our Afghan partners. The path focused on human rights, which includes the meaningful participation of women and girls in all aspects of Afghan society,” the statement said.
“The two sides also discussed the United States’ provision of stronger humanitarian aid directly to the Afghan people. The discussions were frank and professional, with the US delegation reiterating that the Taliban will be judged not only by its actions, but also by its words.” added.
