Violence after Bengal elections: CBI registers three more FIRs, total 31 cases registered


Kolkata: The CBI has registered three new FIRs at two places as part of the investigation into the post-poll violence cases in West Bengal. Agency sources gave this information on Tuesday.

According to sources, the cases were registered in East Medinipur’s Nandigram and Cooch Behar’s Sitalkuchi areas.

So far 31 cases have been registered by the agency.

After the TMC came back to power, the BJP accused the ruling party’s workers of inflicting violence on its members, in which several people were killed.

The saffron camp also claimed that several houses of party workers have been destroyed and women raped in different parts of the state.

The Calcutta High Court, taking cognizance of the NHRC report on the post-poll violence, handed over the investigation to the CBI.
