Virat Kohli ends his T20I captaincy tenure with a win as India beat Namibia in their last T20 World Cup 2021 match

A strong partnership of Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul helped Team India beat Namibia by nine wickets in the final Super 12 match of the ongoing T20 World Cup at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium. Notably, this was Virat Kohli’s last match as the T20I captain of Team India.

Chasing 133, both Sharma and Rahul played innings of 56 and 54 and thrashed the Namibian bowlers. Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja took three wickets each as the Men in Blue restricted Namibia to 132/8.

Namibia heaves a sigh of relief Rohit Sharma was dismissed by Jan Frylink in the tenth over, but his joy did not last long as Surya Kumar Yadav joined Rahul and chased down the target in just 15.2 overs.

Opting to bat first, Namibia got off to a good start as the team scored 31 runs in the first four overs. In the fifth over, Jasprit Bumrah got Michael van Lingen’s skull which made him fall.

Craig Williams, Stephen Byrd, and Jan Nicole Lofty-Eaton went on in quick succession as Namibia were reduced to 47/4 in the tenth over.

Captain Gerhard Erasmus and David Wiese tried to revive the Namibian innings but Ashwin dismissed the captain as the team had lost half of its side.

Wickets kept falling at regular intervals and Namibia were soon found to rebound at 117/8. In the end, Namibia reached 132/8 as the team scored 37 runs in the last four overs.
